About the North Kingstown Arts Council
In 1983, the North Kingstown Town Council created the Arts Council for the purpose of sponsoring and supporting arts and culture programs in our community. Today, the Arts Council is a strong, highly visible organization that holds a prominent place in the life of North Kingstown.
The Arts Council is comprised of 13 volunteer members who are appointed to two year terms by the North Kingstown Town Council. The Arts Council meets on the second Wednesday of every month. The meetings are held at 7:00 pm in the Beechwood Center. The meeting dates, agenda, and minutes are available on the North Kingstown town website.
The North Kingstown Arts Council works year-round to develop and support arts programs to bring both fine and performing arts to our community, reaching all age groups in a variety of venues.
We invite you to explore this website to learn more about the Arts Council, see how our activities serve to enhance the quality of life in North Kingstown, and find out about upcoming events and programs you can take part in.
The Mission of the North Kingstown Arts Council
To promote, encourage, and support the performing and visual arts while developing public awareness and interest in various art forms
To appreciate, preserve, and share the history and heritage of North Kingstown and its ethnic diversities
To integrate the arts throughout the community and offer opportunity to all who want to participate in arts programs.
Becoming a Member of the North Kingstown Arts Council
The Arts Council periodically seeks town residents who are interested in serving on the Council to help us continue to expand our programming and build upon the success we have enjoyed in impacting the quality of life in our town. One meeting per month, the second Wednesday, is a basic requirement. In addition, each member selects an area of special interest – project management, publicity, supporting existing events, even designing and managing a new event. Please note that you do not need to have an art background to serve on the Arts Council. We are looking for community-minded individuals who have an interest in sharing their time, talent, energy and imagination. To apply, send this application, which is kept on file for a year, along with a resume and cover letter to:
