The North Kingstown Arts Council works year-round to develop and support arts programs to bring both fine and performing arts to our community, reaching all age groups in a variety of venues.

June 21st & 22nd - Children's Theatre Production

The Creative Dramatics Program presents "The Wizard of Oz" at the North Kingstown High School auditorium.  Showtimes are 7:30 pm on Sat, June 21st and 2:30 pm on Sun, June 22nd. 

Tickets are available in advance for $8.00 at the NK Recreation Dept (Town Hall, 2nd floor) from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday and the Community Center at the NK Town Beach from 5-7pm, Monday - Friday.

FREE with your "Wizard of Oz" ticket... "The Bewitching Hour - The True Accounts of the Salem Witch Trails".  This production is written & directed by Lindsay Dias and performed by the 8th grade students of the Creative Dramatics Program.  Showtimes are 6:00 pm on Sat, June 21st and 1:00 pm on Sun, June 22nd.

Coming Soon - Summer Concert Season!!

 The North Kingstown Arts Council is pleased to announce the return of a summer tradition - the Tuesday and Thursday Summer Concert Series, made possible by the generous sponsorship of Centreville Bank.

Tuesday Summer Concerts at the Town Dock

Come on down to spend a couple of hours by the water listening to band sounds and enjoying the beauty of Wickford Harbor.  

Showtime is 7pm. The Tuesday Summer Concerts are held at the Town Dock on Brown Street in Wickford. Rain location usually is North Kingstown High School.  There's no admission charge for the Tuesday concerts - your donations are gratefully accepted.

 Season Opener - June 24th:   Brass Attack returns for their 13th straight season with us.   There's no better way to open the 2008 season - come find out why Brass Attack is always a crowd favorite.

Tues, July 1st:   The Driftwoods - What a way to start your Fourth of July celebration - summer with songs from the Beach Boys  and Buffet. 

Tues, July 8th:  Bandstand Review with sounds straight from the 50's.

Tues, July 15th:  White Eyed Lizard Band - Last year's favorite new band returns with not-be-missed Calypso music. 

 Tues, July 22nd:  Black Tie Band with Nancy Paolino - Top notch contemporary and Top 40 music.

Tues, July 20th:  The Bush Wack Band brings us crazy, lively, and country to get you up on your feet!

Tues, Aug 5th:   New York Minute returns with the sounds of summer.

Tues, Aug 12th:  John Conners & the Irish Express close out the season.

 

Thursday Family Summer Concert Series

Bring a blanket and picnic for a wonderful Thursday evening the whole family can enjoy!  We have an exciting roster of kid-friendly musical performers and there will be plenty of children to participate in the show.

The Family Concerts are held at 6:30 pm at the North Kingstown Town Beach Band Shell.  In the event of rain, the concerts are moved to the adjacent Community Center.   Suggested donation - $3 per family.

The Season Starts July 10th:  Les Julian returns!  On both nylon string and electric guitars, with an unforgettable voice and rubbery storyteller’s face, Les Julian is a singer of stories that will delight and transport the audience!

July 17th:  Greg Cooney performs his original fun-filled music for a wide range of family audiences. Kids can learn about life, while having a great time getting involved with his music.

July 24th:  Don't miss - Jon Nelson’s Rockin’ Kids Revue.  Jon's high energy, crowd-pleasing performances are rooted in his love of rock 'n' roll and his desire to educate children through music!

July 31st:  This Thursday night is going to be GREEN!  Jay Mankita brings his veggie oil powered van, Veggie Voyager, to share during a musical show based on sustainable living, healthy choices, books, kindness and respect, and appreciation of our natural environment. Jay will provide a post-show alternative energy Q & A demonstration with the Veggie Voyager.

Aug. 7th:  They're back.... Crowd favorite Vic and Sticks and the Storytime Band will completely enthrall the kids!  Vicki and Rick Ethier are storytellers who take their audience back in time as they share their own original stories with a "vaudeville flair.”

Aug. 14th:  We're ending the summer with a bang! At this all-ages interactive hoot, everyone gets their hands on Bob Bloom’s huge collection of drums and percussion instruments. Come and play along!

The North Kingstown Arts Council is committed to supporting a variety of arts projects and programs in our town.  If you have an "arts idea", we're interested in hearing about it!  In some cases, the Arts Council provides full funding; in other cases, partial funding or other types of support may be provided.  In any case, the Arts Council is always interested in discussing new ideas, and encourages creative proposals.
